I’m often asked for advice on which sewing machine to choose.
So I decided to write something on this topic this time too.
Of course, I’m not an expert in this field, but I have learnt a few things in my amateur sewing days.
For more technical and detailed questions, I suggest you contact the experts. I often ask them too
and always ready to help, i. e. the staff from the Sewing Technique.
For expert and technical guidance, I’ve written to you to ask. But I will give you advice, just like a sewing enthusiast would give to someone,
who would like to become one. Or are you just starting to sew or. you are still deciding which sewing machine to buy.
you are still deciding which sewing machine to buy.
with basic functions and enough power to sew everything from jersey to decorative fabrics.
It is important that your sewing machine does not let you down the first time you start sewing. So all the joy will pass you by,
which would be a pity. And don’t buy a machine that is too heavy and too expensive for amateur sewing.
Or you might not be interested in sewing after all. I doubt it, of course, because once you are drawn in you can’t stop. I speak from personal experience 🙂
Back to the machines. I recommend the Janome TXL607. . . which has everything you need for sewing.

A very powerful machine and suitable for all types of fabrics. It has lots of programmes. . . you certainly won’t use them all, but there’s nothing wrong with having them available.
You can also sew jersey fabrics with it, as you can see in my instructions I always show how to sew jersey with this machine. For users who do not have an overlock sewing machine
to show that you can sew jersey too. It’s also great for sewing triple stitch applications. What I like best is that it automatically cuts the thread at the touch of a button.
I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for scissors when I have to cut the thread at the end. 🙂 It’s a very powerful sewing machine and a best-seller, so you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.
As I wrote before, the best sewing machine for jersey is an overlock sewing machine.

If you have been sewing for a long time, and mostly stretch fabrics, you have no choice but to get one.
An overlockmachine hems, sews and cuts fabric – all in one operation. Ideal for mesh. Not only will you be faster at sewing
this machine makes a nice finishing stitch and makes the product look more professionally sewn.
My latest acquisition is the Janome 2000CPX

. . . this is a hemming sewing machine. We’re still getting to know each other, but I like it a lot. Now the finishing of the collars and edges is much nicer.
I hope you have a great sewing experience and that you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂
